Local additions help MFC Rebels vault to top of NorCal South

LIVERMORE — Manteca Futbol Club has vaulted to the top of the Division I NorCal South Conference table after routing Ariana FC 3-0 Saturday at Cayetano Park.

The Rebels scored all of their goals in the second half and improved to 4-0-1 in their first season in the United Premier Soccer League. They’re tied with Madera Evolution FC (3-3-0) with 12 points with with one less game played.

Contributions came from several local athletes, some of them college players who are back home for the summer.

Eyber Reynoso got the Rebels on board in the 53rd minute, connecting on a right-footed volley from near the 18-yard line. Ripon product Hayden Beier doubled the lead in the 68th minute on a deflection off of Isaac Nawabi’s corner kick. Manteca High alumnus Ethan Fraser, now at Graceland University, scored in added time, receiving a through ball from Juan Gallegos.

Gallegos has had scoring contributions in three straight matches, notching back-to-back hat tricks in Manteca FC’s previous two outings.

Lathrop High grad Javi Galvez (UC Merced) and Sierra’s Sem Zingkhai (Fresno Pacific) debuted for the Rebels’ UPSL side. Galvez went the distance at left centerback, while Zingkhai played close to 40 minutes in the second half.

Lopez Morado was named the Raising Cane’s Man of the Match in his first start.

Manteca FC heads to San Francisco this Sunday to face Juniors FC (3-1-2).
